Emotional Abuse in the Workplace

The awful thing about emotional abuse is you can experience it anywhere. Family, spouse, friends, at school, at the grocery store, at your sports clubs. And, in your workplace.

And because emotional abuse is so subtle it can be extremely difficult to spot, and by the time you realize something is not right, you may be at a point where you constantly second guess yourself or feel responsible for the problems you are experiencing.

In time, you may even decide that all you can do is put up with it.

For anyone who has endured any kind of abuse, you will know that at times its very difficult to be able to keep sight of who you are. Sometimes you will compromise yourself to avoid the conflict, other times you will stand strong and defend yourself.

I like this checklist of the warning signs of emotional abuse, its from a great website called BYU Women’s Services (part of Brigham Young University)that has really useful information and insights that helped me gain more understanding about myself and it actually helped me to do more in depth research. I like this sight because its geared toward women and covers a range of issues from physical and emotional health to body image and relationship violence. Keep reading…
