But What About His Friends?

November 12, 2010

Random post I wrote because I keep coming across a certain news story everywhere I go, online, offline, pubs, lunchrooms… Im not sure what Im trying to say in this post but it relates to thoughts I have about shame, the most debilitating emotion known to humanity. I may write on it later but for now, this post comes from trying to understand shame and how the reactions from others can possibly cement it within our psyches, maybe forever.

By now, somewhere on the internet many of you have probably stumbled across the piece of news about the footballer and his lewd act with a dog.

The story goes, the footballer and his team and some friends were at a party after one of their games. In a drunken state he decides to play a “prank” on an absent team mate by “simulating” a sex act with the absent mates dog. Another team mate takes a photo of the act and “somehow” the photo ends up on Twitter… and all hell breaks loose. Read the rest of this entry ?

The Dance in the Basement

May 31, 2010

I want to share something with you. Outwardly, its not profound or deep or even significant. But its an experience that each of us lives for. An experience that cuts through all the boundaries to show us the purity of our souls. Or not. Whether we hurt or bleed in some way, or whether we flow through life living for the next moment, there is always the experience of Read the rest of this entry ?

Call to Goodbye

May 24, 2010

In my family we have this custom. When someone is ready to pass away we let everyone know they can come and say their last goodbyes. Friends, Family. Colleagues. Acquaintances. Anyone who feels like they want to come. Like when we were told my Dad wasnt gonna make it. I cant remember what they said. Hours or a couple days left maybe. Cant remember. I didnt believe it. But they put the call out anyway. His hospital room and ward were already full of family and friends. Constant coming and going. Anyway they put the call out. And they came in droves. Whenever my mother and siblings were all in the room I left. I had this thing where I beleived my dad wouldnt leave us if we werent all together. And he didnt. Then my uncle said we all had to stop being selfish and let him go. Trouble is I didnt believe it. Until I looked down at my dad on his hospital bed. So uncomfortable. In such pain. His eyes closed but his face grimaced. Unconscious for 3, maybe 4 days. Suddenly I knew. I was holding his hand. Stroking his hair. And I said “Dad. I know you hurt. If you are ready to go then you go. Dont stay for us, its ok. Go when your ready. ” And then he opened his eyes for the first time in 3 days. He looked at me, smiled, took a deep breath. Then passed away. As he left he squeezed my hand and I said “You were my rock”. Then I broke. It was in that moment that I believed he was going to die. And I couldnt comprehend it. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

Wish, Layzie & Krayzie

Alright, just a simple short review because I still dont feel like writing yet but its coming back slowly.  so its been a rough last few weeks and the last few days in particular and just when I think it couldnt get any better, the long anticipated 8th studio album by Bone Thugs N Harmony is finally released!!!!

It’s been a lonely run for me during the last week and with Mothers Day and everything the sadness has been my only friend (or enemy??). So when Bone dropped their album on May 3rd (or 4th?) I wasnt really into snapping it up even though I’d been waiting excitedly like millions of other fans around the world.

But a couple of days ago I needed something to shift my energies so I decided to mess around on youtube and came across one of the songs named Gone ft Ricco Barrino, from the Uni 5 album. It lifted me so much I went and got the album straight away and I’ve been listening to it ever since.

Meet Me in the Sky featuring K-Young is powerful with an amazing hook by K-Young this song shows the incredible versatility Bone Thugs showcase so well. Check the official video out below Read the rest of this entry ?
